Springtime is Closer Than We Think: Is it Time for Your Seasonal Checks?

With the days getting longer and the sun shining a little brighter, it's easy to feel the shift towards spring. As we anticipate warmer weather and blooming flowers, it's crucial to remember that our vehicles also need springtime TLC.

Here's a checklist to help you get started:

1. Oil Change:

Regular oil changes are essential for engine health. Old oil can thicken, reducing its ability to lubricate and cool engine parts. This can lead to increased wear and tear and even engine damage. Most manufacturers recommend oil changes every 3,000-7,500 miles but consult your owner's manual for the specific recommendations.

2. Battery Check:

Cold weather can significantly impact battery performance. Springtime is a good time to have your battery tested to ensure it is holding a proper charge. You should have your battery tested at least once a year, ideally before the start of spring.

3. Tire Check:

Check tire pressure and tread depth. Underinflated tires can decrease fuel efficiency and increase wear and tear. Worn-out tires can significantly impact handling and braking. You should check tire pressure monthly and inspect tread depth regularly.   

4. Brake Inspection:

7. Wiper Blade Replacement:

Spring showers can bring unexpected downpours. Ensure your wiper blades are in good condition to maintain clear visibility.  You should replace wiper blades every 6-12 months.

8. Lights Check:

Proper lighting is crucial for safety, especially during spring showers and longer days. Check all exterior and interior lights to ensure they are functioning correctly.
